Dude,
I am facing same issue....need to get some money back from India....and there is no way i can get it officially without losing significant part of it. It is really illogical to send money to India for property investment just because we cannot get money back.....I am repenting doing that....
Whenever I ask my friends to do this favor to me.....all they say is they dont have money to send India (since they dont want to disclose their worth to me) or they dont want to send money to India since they know it is useless to send money at such a bad conversion rate.
If you can find some better way, let me know too.

Guys - I have 2 sets of questions:
1. Case 1: Re-enter on AP with a valid H1-B visa till Oct 2010 (not stamped in Passport though). What status do I have (AOS or H1-B)? This is assuming that I work for the same GC sponsoring employer. I currently have 3 copies of AP (and 3 for my wife) - will I have to turn in all 3 of them at the POE? I have read that the Immigration Officers keep 2 of the 3 APs and return one back to you. The I-94 is stamped for 1 year - what do I do after a year? Do I have to renew my AP every year to maintain my status in the US?
2. Case II: Re-enter on AP (not working for sponsoring employer - using AC 21) - Is this safe? How does one explain AC21 to the Immigration Officer..how should one answer the question: 'Who is your current employer?'

May be this is not a prediction thread. But the OP and some others are all about VB in another thread or two. While I personally dont have any issue with it, it just frustates me that people dont understand that VB is not going to do any magic for PD's in 2003 or later. C mon Lets be realistic. After doing all the math in so many threads, Does any one expect that the PD will be some where in the ending of 2003. Hell no. Then why is that we have a Dec Bulletin thread way back? Now some one is gonna come start a Jan prediction thread. Useless. I hate to comment on this but I hope people understand the difference between discussion as you said(which I personally agree) and useless predictions when they can make educated guess and do something else.

As far as the futility of predictions go, I agree with you. the beauty of this thread is in seeing someone (like GCanyMinute) say that their PD is now current. while we commiserate about our condition, it is the ray of hope that keeps all of us sane does it not?

The following are various ways to express some one�s dissatisfaction/agony and draw some one else (Government/Media/Public) attention.
1. Daily Fasting : One or more people would sit for fasting from 6 AM to 6 PM. One group would pass on the fire to next group.

4. Wearing Black Ribbons : People would wear/put a small black ribbon on their shirt pockets (Upper left side of the chest) and attend duties. We can draw people attentions. Such ribbon should have white color immigration slogan printed on it.
5. Distributing Flyers : Distributing Flyers/Handouts to people in respective areas.
6. Banners : Display banner/show outs in the Traffic Island Medians
7. Flower Campaign : Sending Flowers to respective people, also called Gandhi giri.
8. Silent Sitting : Sitting in front of USCIS silently (no talk).
9. Silent sitting in front of Senators house: Group of people should sit (kind of protest) in front of respective state senators. We can draw maximum MEDIA attention.
10. Sweeping Roads : A group of people would sweep roads by wearing immigration slogans jackets.
11. Organize Blood Donate Drives : Interested member would donate blood (We should explain to media, why we are doing so).

The only positive thing I can take from this visa bulletin (assuming there is even a modicum of linear thought possible on the movement of dates) is that the 485 traffic for PDs between 2002 July and Jan 2003 is fairly light for EB2 India. After all they stated as much in their footnotes about anticipated movement of PDs. This can be construed as offering some hope for those from EB2 India with priority dates in early 2003 (say up to march). After all anyone in their right mind would not chance CP now with the fluidity of priority dates and the pending BEC deluge of cases, and the hordes of people hunting labour subs. etc. Basically if anyone gets the chance to file 485 they will do it lest the dates retrogress again while they are waiting for the consular interview.
So those with early 2003 dates can be hopeful now, later than march and I doubt you will be in this fiscal years quota.

This will definitely lead to a lot of noise and I am quite sure the remaining 50K visas left for recapture for yrs 2002-2004 will also be recaptured soon after the elections. I hope for the SKIL provisions but am less confident about them than I am about the Schedule A workers.

I agree with you that this is not big enough to stop the entire crisis. But look at the cities where there are lot of immigrants. I can give you one example where it could make huge impact.
Seattle (King County) home of Microsoft has a housing inventory of 8600 single family homes around 1200 condos. It takes 10 months to clear up the inventory.
Microsoft applied around 2K new H1B last year. So my guess is it might have applied around 8k in last 4 years. Lets assume 60% of those didn't GC's. So around 5k people waiting in the line. Lets say out of which 4K didn't buy a house and are willing to buy a house. So 4K new buyers in a market which has 10K units. If every one buys house in next few months then the months of supply will become 6.
There lot of other companies located in this area which also apply for H1Bs.
So the point is immigrants can save or make big enough impact some housing markets.
Revival of housing market revives the economy. May be we should identify those markets and talk to those senators.
Well the Government might be moderately interested but I doubt Microsoft's executives will be .. they will simply push more jobs to Hydrebad instead of Seattle.

Am I wrong or is there very little interest in this bill from IV - or for that matter other immigration groups?
I understand that its going to be hard to get ANY legislation passed over the next couple of quarters, but I think getting behind these inital ones will lead to a growing momentum. This momentum is what will eventually lead to any immigration changes..

I always loved this board for what it does - especially the Gurus who always spend their precious time giving input to member's queries. Well... this is not query. I just want to vent my frustration, helplessness to fellow friends in this board. In spite of graduating from a reputed univ with a Masters and very good GPA and also having 7 years of professional experience, I am bound to be a slave to my current Employer without any promotions, career growth or anything remote to that for next (God knows how many Decades) several years. ppl who are junior to me in every aspect are growing left and right and are also getting brighter opportunities. AC21 is nothing to do with AP. In AC21, you are changing the job WITHIN US, not leaving US. There is some securty related reason, for requiring one must not leave USA when AOS is pending. AP is for a short emergency travel during AOS. Yes..it will be a pain if AOS takes many years, particularly travel issues.
