We have an emergency (surgery of parents) and we have to go to India on Monday. We filed for AP on 10/16. There was no change on our online status for long time. I was frustrated and took a Infopass on 11/10 and explained the emergency. They asked for an emergency letter from the hospital (Not a scanned copy or fax). They promised to issue an emergency AP provided we get the letter ASAP by cancelling the pending application. I went home from Infopass and found out that the AP we filed on 10/16 was approved. (Mere coincidence). It was approved on 11/10 and the document was mailed on 11/10. I have been waiting for that document ever since. In the meanwhile, i got the emergency letter from India. I took another Infopass appointment on 11/13 and went with the letter. They told me that they cannot issue an emergency AP cannot be issued as the previous application was approved and is in transit. The document was mailed on 11/10 and i haven't got it till today (11/14). I have a ticket to India on Monday(11/16). I am hoping i will get it on Monday. The immigration office told that technically my spouse can leave and i can mail the document. And she is confident that the document should arrive by Monday. The only problem is if the document is lost in mail and we have a problem (She told this situation to me). If it is lost, we might have to re-apply a new one, which means my spouse has to be in the country.
I am curiously waiting for the mail everyday. Tomorrow is Sunday. So i guess i have to wait until Monday.
Not sure how much time typically USCIS documents take to deliver (Regular mail i believe). Nebraska to Boston.

spicy guy, which service center did you apply? if its texas, you are cool, u should get ur AP within 15-30 days max. I have travel in the third week of november and I applied for renewal in Nebraska and my RD for this is August 6th. I am not very optimistic. Cos, per the website, its taking anywhere between 95-150 days these days for AP renewal in NE.

Do we need to fill form I-864 or form I -134 for affidavit of support? A friend of mine who filed with murthy this month is forwarding his set of documents. The documents he filled in includes 134 and not 864. I am looking at uscis website and I am trying to figure out what is the difference between the two. Does any one have more info on the difference between the two documents?

I believe a lot has changed in India over the last 5 years specially in the Southern states. There are good housing options including gated communities with luxury condos in big cities, good cars, great schooling, wonderful medical facilities and the opportunity to live close to family members. The number of good paying jobs have multiplied significantly over the last few years.
I came to the US in 2002 and have lived and worked here for the last 5 years and currently stuck in the retrogression mess like most members in this forum. My plan here is to complete my part-time Masters program in 2008 and head back to India to work in a Project Manager or other senior positions. I crave for opportunities to manage global IT teams while working in India. The craze for a better life in US is a myth. We have become so used to a comfortable life in the US that the possibility of any change forces us to delay taking good decisions in life.
I love and miss India, the food, people, strong family ties, culture etc. I am sure its going to be challenging to adjust living in India at in the initial few months but in the end it would be worth the effort.

Instead of focusing on Labor cert filing, I focused more on my work (probably because proving myself in a new company seemed more important that time). Two months after joining suddenly came an email from corporate HR and company decided not to file any more labor certs because of worsening economy. They filed my labor only in Oct 2004 (so for filing labor itself I had to wait for 3.5 years). Wish I knew about the long wait and GC hell when I came here.

But one of the main required document to get even ATV is to have an valid US visa in your PP. Do you have one in your PP? If we had that then why we would even need their crap ATV?
Another option for you would be to apply for ATV in India when you are there. That is what I am going to do. It is about Rs. 4000 per person, but worth the peace of mind. Next time I am traveling either non-stop or through pacific route. No more through Europe

After seeing all of your dates I can feel your pain. I am so sorry.
I think USA law makers should think about points system (like Canada) and who is working in the country ( for every year they should add some points) should give preference...etc...

Its clear there are many who are frustrated. I feel there is a better way to convince people to contribute. I have been registered with this site for several years now. I hardly know much about this organization. sure there is a nice little bio on here of core members but what role do they play on a daily basis? is this organization a democracy where people get elected to posts every year or do the people running it pledge to run it forever? why is information hidden from non-donors? Where can i find site admins...do i have to search forum posts or is there some place that lists them? what are the goals for advocacy? who decides? is there a vote?
i can go on with a list of serious concerns about IV
once people are convinced of a well run organization and see where exactly their money or time will be spent then i am sure there will be many more contributions made.

I have sent my I-485 on June 1st under EB3 preference since my spouse's EB2 was under retrogression.
Now that everyone is current, I want to file AOS again as his derivative in EB2. (I have no hopes on EB3)
There is a question in I-485 (have you ever applied for AOS before , give date, filing location and final disposition")

It is obvious from various sources that all EB2-I with PD < Jan 2006 will be greened before sep 2010
I agree. There are not many EB-1/EB-2 pending in the ROW so this year I expect India EB-2 to get a good amount of numbers.

Sincere efforts have been made by IV core team .. I would not be worried of results every day.
Hopefully IV members who request updates understand it and help this effort -- the way they can.

For a moment forget about us and our cause. How do they justify doing this when there is so much of the peoples business left. Even budget bills are left pending.
This retiring congress is truly defining itself as the DO NOTHING CONGRESS and ought to be ashamed of themselves.
The people spoke and still they did not hear the message.
Hopefully when the new bunch comes in we will see things moving for a year atleast because of the enthusiasm of new members coming in.
Also, they did keep the name "Lame" in true sense. They were Lame in most of the matters.
