This funny business of turning away non-immigrant workers at airports/consulates must be tackled head on by IV. This is outrageous behavior on the part of immigration officials. If a person has valid visa then it automatically implies that all the concerns of DOL have been addressed. Immigration officials have no business poking there nose in it.
We must draw a line here. Let's tell CIS is that we can not take the crap any further. Such kind of behavior on their part plays havoc with temporary workers life. Just imagine what happens when a family is split in half due to the denial of reentry.

This will introduce a new paradigm into the US immigration system - an earned permanent residency. Won't happen any time soon. We can wish a lot, but should be reasonable in what we ask.
Yes it will be a new paradigm in US immigration system but hasn't there been multiple and huge paradigm shifts in cross border trade and labour movement in the last few years (it is not what used to be in the 1990's)? It is time that all countries wake up to this reality and the global labour force unite to pursue govermental agencies to change the archaic laws that is basically ruining our lives. It is difficult but not impossible and to dream of that change is a start.

This is just another statement by a politician. They'll try to appearing working hard on immigration reform. They want to look as if they're putting every last ditch of effort to pass a bill. This will allow them to argue in debates that they tried their best but the "other" party derailed it.
I do believe that some bill will eventually become law and give us relief. but this one is not it. This is just pre-election theater. You'll see more of it during coming days.
Let the election dust settle. 1st and 2nd quater of 2007 is when I expect something significant to happen.

I am not disputing the fact the forum is used to post issues. But check who are all asking the accountability...? People who never donated a dime. How can they expect and question accountability for others money. First they will have to give and ask what happened to their money and how it was spend.
I dont want a non-donor come and ask how my donation was spend....
I'll offer 2 other perspectives to look at this
say you did not contribute or did not even vote for the politician who represents your district....do you still demand accountability? why? cause that politician is representing you... whether you like it or not

I am not a lawyer. However, I believe you should be fine if you send the receipt for the new H1 appl along with the 485 appl.
You can also consider filing your H1 in premium processing.
Hi I am also in the same situation but slightly different . My H1B is expiring on 29 June 2007 and I sent my H1B Ext for 3 years ( based on the approved I 140 ) and got Receipt on 15 May 2007 .
Can USICS reject the petition as the Dates are current now ?
I am in my 6 year and my PD is july 26 ' 2006 ( Less than 1 year )

There are not enough techies in the US and if companies cannot
get enough they will outsource their work to someother country. There
may be some US Citizen techies out of job ( with obsolete skills or not competant) but I think the % is very very less. If 100 jobs are going to
offshore may be at least 20% will lose jobs assuming 80% are foreign workers ( could be much lesser than that). Now some of the people who are losing jobs will be clerical staff etc for whom finding jobs will be more difficult.
Also Labor Dept predicts that 2010 or something there will be 1 million tech jobs unfilled.
If law makers taking decisions solely based on the views of NumberUSA or Zazonna a disaster is imminent.

The wage earner of the family is paying taxes from the FAMILY income. When you file jointly it is a JOINT return.

Did you have to give any medical reasons for emergency or other reasons were enough?
I am in similar situation, so hoping we all get it soon.

The officer sent a mail to the lady who is assigned my case, but don't know how long she will take to look into my case. Even the officer said the same as he is also not sure of the time to review the case.
And one more thing we learnt is, Phoenix center where we sent the application is just a lockbox, what all they do is to collect the applications cash the money and sent them to the respective centers ... hope this helps.
I would suggest you guys to do e-filing of applications which would be faster

Even I have Master's, my attroney is saying that it can not be equated to US Master's unless I have 4 years Bachelor's degree.

1. My Parents as my dependents
2. I made 3 lakhs donations in India those amounts are not tax exempt here
3. My LIC premiums are not tax deductible here...
But I need to pay tax on my Indian income ....
