Please bear with my ignorence, but can anyone tell what are the provisions in the Fence Bill for US?
Fence bill is all abt enforcement and no immigration favorable provisions are in this bill. IV is working hard to include some provisions that would favor legal immigrants like us. I am hoping they succeed in their mission and looking for a good news to all of us.

Thanks dixie and others. Other than writing to your house rep there is not much that we can do.
Regarding numbersusa, I will humbly point out that these are people who are actually equally opposed to LEGAL immigration. If you read between the lines of what they tell Lou, that becomes clear. They are very clever with their use of words: they never say they are against legal immigration; they say they are against foreigners taking American jobs. After all, it is very hard to speak out openly against legal immigration because all of them are themselves descendants of people who came here legally; in many cases their parents are legal immigrants.
And the folks at numbersusa don't want the jobs that the illegals take. They don't care that much for those jobs. That is why they are afraid that if fence is built, some provisions for legal immigrants will pass.
Several prominent republicans, including the President himself, recognize the worth of legal immigrants to our economy, and also to our universities and the research that takes place there, and hopefully will see through these games.

But some of us are not willing to donate even part of it for our campaign in support. May be they are having hard time financially too :(

Do you know how the PERM actually came into picture? When there are about 300k+ applications have been piled up in New York and California and been taking years for the processing of labor. Where as its been just less than a week in states like South Dakota. So the Fed wants to centralaize the process irrespective of the state you have applied for and make the process more effective. Then the PERM process came up and processing the applications in about 3 months ( in some cases in about 2 days). Many of the people in this forum whose PDs are older than 2004 are much aware of this cumbersome effort of getting cleared the first stage of GC (Labor).
I dont remeber anybody like us have done any efforts to improve the labor processing times. As far as I know the Gov itself has taken the initiative of improving the labor processing system and brought the PERM inplace.
Now also I am in a great hope, and is going to happen, once there are enough applications piled up for GC, like 300k+ applications have piled up for labor, the government take initiative to bring some law to be more effective the GC process and remove the delays.
The worst part of this whole scenario is people who had waited for years at BEC centers for their labor are still waiting for their dates to be current and competing with the people who have utilzed PERM.

I have an approved i140 as of 01/16/2007 , company got sold on 01/31/2007.
Now pD (may 2003)is current and i have to refile i140 with 485 on june 01 2007,

Thanks everyone for all the responses. Now I have got some clarity (ofcourse the answers from each counsular region are contradictary, but I assumed the worst, i.e we need ATV when on AP)
Below are my thoughts. Let me know if you see any flaws in the thinking or better ideas.

2. Based on the info at this URL, I'm good for travel from US to India. I'll take this print out.

4. Coming to my wife I have the following options in the below order of preference

Why are you skeptical about everything? Now you are able to file I485 and celebrate and file it. When PD goes back see that time. Some thing is better than nothing. If you get gc you will worry about citizenship.
You didn't read my post clearly. This happiness is only good for couple of months and it will be back to retrogression again especially for India & China as stated by alterego at above post. By that time, it will take longer time to get for GC as it is now because there will be tons of pending I-485 with only limited visa number.

What happens to the *-2007 reporting ? should I specify in the same form ?
Anyone who stayed more than 183 days in 2008 here in US, must declare all their accounts in home country or any other country, if at any time, the cumulative value in those accounts exceeded $10,000. IRS extended the declaration deadline to September 23, 2009.
I came to know about this today only and I am planning to submit this as soon as possible. Please follow the following links to educate yourself.

I just cannot stand the continuous and unreasonable complaining people do just because their GC is delayed.
Thanks for sharing your story. Glad you are working for an employer who is treating you well, we thank you for still contributing to IV�s effort (don�t know why though)..though you do not need GC that much.
Constant complaining can irritate I agree but calling it unreasonable, I did not get that. If people had not complained that much, if IV had not fought for us during July fiasco, we wouldn�t have got EADs now, imagine how much of a difference it made to our families including myself.
