Members who have already done both and members who are in process of doing the same should not feel bad about my post. There is nothing that I have said would hurt their feelings.
By the way there are some members who have said that there are few people who are camera shy. It is understandable. Guess what so far very few people have posted their video. You will be able to count on your fingures.
We have 20k+ members. We hope 20,000 (plus) - 20 = 19,980+ members are not camera shy.
There are around 1500+ members on the forum at this time out of 20k+ members. All our members are willing to spent time posting messages and speculating what will happen in next VB. But they don't have time to post their video. The members don't have time to send Thank You Cards. Four people deserves thank you card and members don't have manners to send a thank you note. This is unacceptable behaviour and please change your attitude.
Don't blame Immigration Voice if you see a bill with no amendments for us. Sometimes we have worked like a mad dog taking lot of risk. We are requesting you to post your video and sent thank you card to 4 people.
Please let IV core know if we are asking too much from you.

I'm probably urinating against the wind here, but I'm going to use my own case as a solid example of throwing baby out with bath water. Enough to say, I am about the last person Mr. Derbin really wants to leave, and importantly I can document that. This is not about me, because I have EAD protection now, but there are many behind us in the queue. Personally I prefer to maintain H1B rather than rely on EAD, but that's a minor point. I'll try and prepare something and run by chapter leaders and/or core , and then approach congressional offices. Sweet little hope but worth a try.

Hey relax all legal immigrants, this was brought up simply to STOP illegal immigrants being issued a DL. What they say is any one who is not a resident of Michigan will not be issued a DL, and illegal immigrants would NOT be considered residents of Michigan, thats all what it is about. How on earth can they say no one having a work visa and legally in the US would not be allowed to drive?

I think in this one can refile stating the same. Thats not an issue i feel. Only issue is only whether they will do for all or not.
Now when u talk with initial customer service rep they said if 15 days has passed . i only called today becoz earlier when i called 2 weeks back they advised me to call back in last week of july hence i did.

...filing for I485 without numbers is meaning less....you just increase the backlog and make it worse...also few people realize that they are better off on H1b than on EAD/advance parole....read thru the forums and u will know

Then AC-21 portability kicks in, and employee has a bit of freedom and security. If the current provision to get 3-year EAD comes into picture, even better for folks on EAD/AP. People can start their own businesses, or work on other things while on EAD. Spouses get to work also with EAD.

yabadaba, I guess instead of showing your knowledge of immigration laws, you can show some common sense. I am not asking for ways a H4 can get SSN. For statement did not make any sense to me because that tried to discriminate between H4 with SSN and H4 without SSN. If H4 with SSN gets tax rebate but not H4 without SSN, how is that fair using any logic?

I would love to paticipate provided these two conditions are met
1) Warmer weather would get more people for the rally and numbers mean a lot when it is a rally. I would go anytime between mid April and mid September.
2) I will not join if participants are encouraged to wear those IV T-shirts. I have nothing against the IV T-shirt but formal attire goes a long way in the east coast especially when we are high skilled immigrants. Atleast a neat office wear should be the dress code.
If these two conditions are satisfied I am in for the rally and the lobby day.
PS: I am not trying to be picky but trying see this rally sends a strong message to the lawmakers and the citizens.
There are no Conditions, if you have these terms, you can sit home and watch IV representing our rights. We don't need whiners in this battle,
IV is about Unity and Fighting for the EB community. cold or not cold, there are members whoa re bringing their small children in the cold, they didn't ask for this, but their is a greater cause they want to fight for.
So, ones who have question, stay home and watch IV win, but I assure you, we will win for the ones who stuck by us.

It gives you an indication of how you/me/we might become the "unintended casualty" of the coming CIR. Visibility is the only thing that will prevent us becoming "unintended casualties". Our cause is the most just, our whimper however is the quietest.
I feel that a show of numbers, followed up by call/legislator visits at the appropriate time in the CIR process may be the only thing that puts our issue in the discussions. It basically is up to us and our activism.

IV has no control over what happens to the provisions or the bills or how the schedule works. All IV will keep on doing is trying to get our provisions in any bill or vehicle that is appropriate and likely to pass.
As far as your guess is concerned, being an IV member, any update we post will have to be EB related. We are not going to post updates for members informing them about things not concerning EB issues. I just wish there was any way to make members realize how difficult it is to get any issue even included in the current enforcement first atmosphere.

while i am waiting for response, i need to explore my back up options.
i need to finish my MBA before i leave this country. I was on my H-1 8th yr extension in 2005. after that i have been on EAD.
My wife is on H-1 but i think she is on extension based on 3 yr extension of my unfortunate 140.
Can I switch to F-1 status next year?
I understand you start accruing illegal time while MTR is pending and if it gets denied? So i don't want to take that risk.
I know i don't have any options, but any suggesstions...
your wife cannot be on an H1 extension based on your I-140. She can only get H1 extensions based on her own LC/I-140. Can you clarify that?

According to law EB2 has advanced degree, so preference is given to them than EB3. So whatever we try to do for EB3 the VISA numbers will flow from EB1 to EB2 and to EB3.

IV T-shirts or not, we need some dress code to identify other folks and be identified by the media and lawmakers. Without some kind of common dress code, how can participants identify IV volunteers? How does the media identify a person as belonging to IV (if they want to do the interview)?

I am glad that you pointed out legal immigrants getting mistaken for undocumented immigrants. Like I have stated several times before - Majority of Congressmen - both Reps and Senators - don't even know we exist! This is the reality. They don't know that thousands are waiting for their Green Card from several years.
They don't read about us in the Newspapers on the front page. We don't visit their offices in large numbers to explain our issues and the solution. In a nut shell, they don't know we exist. So they refuse to believe IV when it makes the case there are thousands waiting. We always get the counter question 'If thousands are so badly affected, why we are just seeing just 4-5 coming to us?'.
The planned Rally + Lobby Day is intended to correct this situation. We are going to show up in thousands to show - We legal immigrants exist. Immigrant doesn't mean only illegal immigrants. Thousands of legal immigrants are suffering too.. After they see us in large numbers, we are going to visit their offices in large numbers. Educate them that we are legal highly-skilled immigrants, our issues and remedies.
If we don't do any of this, status quo will continue, and our bills will continue to receive lower priority than animals - Horses, Cows, Monkeys etc.
Lets do a realty check. These rallies are more at the college/university level thinking. We need to act a little mature and professional.
My idea would be:
Who ever can work remotely, plan to work on that day in the lawns of Capitol Hill. Only arrangement needed is wifi access. Company logo attire with black ribbons/flags will make a bigger impact.
With no disrespect to illegals as people, our last rally was perceived as an illegal immigrant rally. If the congressman addressing our rally thinks we are illegals, there is no bigger joke than that. Let�s correct our image!!!
