I did refered earlier in this forum ,about www.givemeinsurance.com , a desi agent deals with Farmers Insurance in Texas only.
I got mine and my wife insurance with him for $15 a month covering 250K Term Life insurance ( We are on H1 )

Quite frankly, I did not want to reply to your post, but your repitition above forces me to!
1) You have NO idea what it was like to find a lobbyist ready to work with us given a) We are dealing with a very sensitive issue b) We had only 10K in cash (5K raised by core members) and another 10K promised again by the core team. Do a real exercise and get a lobbyist to sign a contract with you for after revealing to them that you have only 20K. Try it now with even 50K and see how many lobbyists are ready to tow your line
2) Regarding your talk of Erin Brockovich and all, you do not even seem to grasp the fact that AILA is interested in the 11 million undocument workers. 500,000 skilled workers are nothing but a drop in the ocean compared to them.
In any case, have you done your part in contacting AILA? We have! Its easy to sit on the fence and complain but it takes conviction to actually DO something

Do you know how much a fine balance the Republicans and Democrats achieved and are not ready to take on anything that might disturb the balance? Also do not forget that 500K people is not even 1% of the US population but 11 Million illegal immigrants make a sizeable chunk and alsong with Hispanics make more than 13% of the population. Now given this, who would you as a politician try to appease? 13% of the population or 0.1% of it?

If the USCIS cashes the checks and then returns the packets (total $1490 in my case), is there any legal recourse to get a refund from them? Since they are pretty much doing whatever they want, this thought just occurred to me.

Why should only GC holders get this 'permission'? F1, J1, L1 and H1 people should also be able to get their parents. Also, add all their dependents, H4, L4(??) whatever. We can all live as a big family then. Or, just pack up and go back to India.
Its ridiculous to hear people saying that they like to live in the US because of human values here, but then talk about Indian values. Please make up your mind. It's not just my family, my siblings, my whatever..... Think outside 'your' little world.

My I-140 has not been approved and I am not going in for PP. I thought about it yesterday, but even if the I-140 was approved there is no guarantee that 485 would be approved before Nov.1st.

I am very depressed! my lawyer who is doing my I-485 has advised that if she was to be concerned with her representing me, she would advise against me starting the company. basically, she said, USCIS can read this as an intent to leave the permanent employer for self employment. my business plan was to be in non-IT business. she said that if i am making enough money in the business, it will be hard to prove that i intend to continue in the job while having this business on the side...

Oh, I trust the attorneys to file it correctly, I was just wondering if there was any way of finding out if it was received and processed correctly. With the H1B, 140, 485, etc. you get a receipt notice, but I wasn't sure if that was the case with the G28, probably not.
The thought of the remote possibility of any correspondence from the USCIS going to the old attorney (for whatever reason), and not making it to me/new attorney in time to respond to it, is a little unnerving.
Well, anyway, no point losing sleep over these things, although it is easier said than done.

I agree. And this has happened. This happens NOT because new Attorney's G 28 did not get filed properly, it happens because VO may mix it up. Usually when a employer requests a revocation of 140 - in real - what the employer requests is "As this employee has left the company the prospects of his future employment with us is not there and we will not support this 140 petition in future. In other words an employer is telling INS "They will never hire you in future".
So the VO does two things here. They send acknowledgment letters to the employer and their Attorney on file and send RFE/NOID to you and your Attorney. In this process some mix up might happen. Remember, a lot of VOs are very ignorant about AC21 and they may not follow the guidelines properly. Under the AC21 law it is clear that all you do is to change job to a same/similar position. As long as you follow law nothing must happen.
Check your online status regularly - if you see LUDs call customer service - verify your address. If you do not get mail in 5 days - call again - if it is 15 days past call and ask them to fax it.

some people get it easily and some dont. Bridgeport, CT DMV is very crowded most of the time and tough to get things done. There are a lot of people of a kind that come there and it is tough. you must try Westport etc kind of areas next time.

I am now in NYC and have to get NY license and just to play it safe , am planning to get the license when I get my h1b 3 year extension which will be applied sometime beginning next year.

You mean to say sell US real estate for GC/citizenship? I don't see this going very far. I can see anti immigrants waiting for this one. Best is to lobby using aides of big corporations, developing relationship with lobbyists who already have connections, hiring lawyers, developing strong case, donations in election campaigns etc. All of this needs loads and loads of money. Are we ready to donate to IV and build strong lobbying group for our cause? That is the only way to change our current situation.

this is my 10th year in the US & never had a single incident along the racial lines.. probably I lucked out.. However, I don't subscribe to this opinion of removing moustache.....
