Good advice...
I think it is all individual....lot of people are going back
New guys like us are stuck......the only problem...is getting GC only does not solve...we have to get the citizenship...another 5 years atleast....
Stock market is not doing good, housing market has crashed....so people are migrating back....
I am looking into it...instead of wasting time following this GC crap...
All things in life has PROS and CONS. Hindsight is always 20/20.
I recently visited India Western and Northern) after 4.5 years. I was totally shocked.. India has become better and better. But all better comes with some bad too. Like staying in USA has the same as well good and bad.
Anyways, we all made choice (we were not pushed/forced) to come here. Again, it is our own choice to go back if we want to. Also, if life in US is better or India is better, cannot be judged as it all depends on each individuals thinking and position.
I can tell you about my sister(Real sister), she and her family moved to Mumbai in 2006 and came back two months back. Both Sister and Bro-in-law were doing great here(became US citizens 5 years back), they wanted to move just because of kids. They came back because of their kids.

yea i hope USCIS completely cleanses the system and gets things back to the way it was pre - 2000
except for mayb 5% of the bodyshoppers ( i could be wrong as i'm not frm IT , have friends who tell me etc) rest all 95% commit fraud to some degree or the other
they need to be weeded out

Now thanks to the report by USCIS last year, we know that about 20% of the H applications had fraud or technical violations. Even if you assume that the USCIS does a perfect job and catches this 20%, the quota that will be freed up won't be enough for the rest of the applicants.
The issues we face have less to do with fraud and more to do with the anti-immigration forces who dislike the 1965 immigration law. Claiming fraud, cheap labor, harm to the environment from increased population are just convenient means to couch opposition to permanent immigration in.

I got a FP notice for next month. It is certainly not related to AP or EAD renewal, since I don't have any pending AP or EAD renewal. I got my EAD renewed last March and AP in May. So hoping that I got the FP notice since they started looking at my 485 application and something positive will be end result.

Folks I wish your suggestions would be helpful, but I have taken 3 infopass appointments, and to my badluck, everytime I visit I meet the same old-fat-lady who now happens to remember me, and says, "Didnt I tell you last time that blah blah blah ", believe me, she was not willing to even accept request to send interim ead , she gave some reason that NSC outsourced callcenter work to contractors who dont know what they are saying and send us to local office to request interim EAD. She says my FP for ead was done only in Nov(my 2nd infopass resulted in 2nd FP) so it will take 4-6 weeks after that to get EAD. Anyways I will take your advice for a 4th infopass next week.

I filed my I485/EAD/AP on August 7, 2007. Does this mean that I do not have to pay any fee for EAD renewal now ?

1) should I invoke Ac 21 ??-- I am worried that the EVL may not meet USCIS needs as it may not be fully detailed
2) The other option I have is to take a leave of absence from my present company for one year and start working for the new company? IN this case what happens if I get RFE for EVL ? Which company should I say I am working for present or the future ? Also If I do take a leave of absence should I send in AC 21 paperwork or no?

I'm glued to C-SPAN whenever anything related to immigration is going on in the senate. This time I wasn't aware of it.
We need to be more alert this time. Maybe a phone campaign or web-fax campaign would have turned the scale! We gotta be more alert.
Don't worry. This is not the complete defeat yet, since this ammendment ties into the troops withdrawl bill. The president would have definately vetoed the bill.
The bigger thing is the SKILL ACT, which has yet to be at the floor. If we really want any success, we have to ensure that the immigration act is passed a a standalone act and not an ammendment to any other bill regarding defense.

I appreciate all the cowards, who gave me red, just because I'm talking about basic rights for all, including them and they are hell bent on finding the legal ways how not to raise your voice. They will wait decades and then kicked out, but wont raise there voice.

The fact that you felt there is not enough ammunition, suggests to me that you think it is perfectly fine to do all those filthy things I was referring to. This tells me about your moral standard.

The fact that the law permits some things, does not have any bearing on the moral severity or the lack thereof, of those things. Would you choose a 'prostitute' over a 'shop lifter' for a wife? If these are the only 2 options, I would be content with a shop lifter. Would you choose a 'prostitute' because there are no criminal issues involved and you will get your greencard faster?

In my case, the request was processed at the local branch. I don't recall seeing an option on ICICI to do the wire transfer. But assuming there is, you should give that a shot. You might have better luck at the branch though .... RBI has the so called KYC - Know Your Customer rules for all banks and that may give you some leeway.
Did you mean the local ICICI branch ? I would appreciate if you could let me know the process that you followed to get the money from India.
