imagine being able to walk around a store and scan items with your iphone for the company's information about the product. That's the kind of stuff we're gonna see in the not-so-distant future imo.

I'm still trying to decide if I love it or hate it! It's beautiful, yet ugly ... all at once. I definitely see all 4 elements -- another nice contrast. I think it would have done well in the surreal contest we just had.
It'd probably work for the next contest theme "Beauty in unexpected places", too.

I got the new facebook update for bug fixes on syncing but not for the fact that I can't hear when I get a notification... I got no sound...
I ran the update for this today and I am getting no notifications at all even though they are all turned on in the settings.

yeah, bring it on.
10.4.7 is a total crap.
It caused kernel panic in my computer and made it behave totally erratic. I had to uninstall back to 10.4.6
I hope the new upgrade will solve many issues that were created by 10.4.7:mad:On your Quad G5? It runs like butta on mine. Did you make sure to use the Combo updater and not the Software Update incremental 10.4.7 updater? I always use the Combo.

No maps on-board: no sale.
Disappointed.
Agreed. I want the maps with me, especially if I'm in a bad cell area.

This demonstrates that Adobe is a bunch of morons. If they listened to Apple and used xCode they could click one button and produce a universal binary.
Perhaps Adobe writes ****** software that isn't engineered to be platform independant.

In January Consumer Reports surveyed over 58,000 of its subscribers on the quality of their cell phone service, with categories for voice, data, customer service, and coverage.
Both overall and localized for 26 different US cities, Verizon far outperformed AT&T in this survey.
It's customary for the tech community to scoff at Consumer Reports' findings, and often with very good reason. But if you ask 58k people, mostly the sort of middle-class folks that are typical CR subscribers, how satisfied they are with their cell phone service, the results IMO can't be easily dismissed. In this large sample, far more people were very unhappy with AT&T than with Verizon.
I found this -- as a person buying an iPad 2 as
1. a netbook/iPad/GPS/e-reader replacement, who
2. neither owns nor wants a smartphone, and who
3. spends nearly 100% of his time in large American cities
--to be a compelling argument in favor of Verizon. Far more compelling than any anecdotal evidence, which is all I see in this thread.
After a month with my 64GB white 3g iPad, I've had no reason to regret my choice. Verizon has never failed to connect, never dropped a connection, never seemed particularly sluggish (although I wait for wifi to download large files), and their pricing seems to fit my usage patterns more economically than AT&T's would have.
My point: it's possible for a rational person to research and analyze this question and come up with Verizon as an answer, and then be happy with that choice. Contrary to some assertions otherwise.

I'm sure this is the first of many companies to ignore the massive PowerPC userbase out there. I wish there was something like a reverse-rosetta.
So much for the age-old tradition of Macs having a much longer useful service life than a Windows PC, now a 2-month old PowerMac is already becoming obsolete.
I wouldn't worry too much just yet. As I said above, just because Adobe has decided to proceed in this manner does not mean everyone else will too. I'm betting that PPC machines will still be "safe" for a few more years in this respect. And plus, for many "non-Pro" users like myself, I don't need to run the latest version of certain software, so even if the newest versions are Intel only, this won't affect me much. My Office v.X will still run fine, just as my Photoshop Elements 3, iLife 06 and Toast 7 will. They meet my needs so I don't feel a need to upgrade them at this point in time even if new versions come out (UB or not).

I envision a market for some sort of faraday cage in an iPhone carrying case though grounding it maybe a challenge.
After-seller small business opportunity, become a chip remover or disabler perhaps.

My prediction:
Lion and iOS5 functionality is shown which enables 'Home on iPhone', as suggested by Cult of Mac.
http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/18/nfc-to-enable-home-on-iphone-remote-computing/
iMac and iPhone hardware is also previewed which demonstrates this ability. This would nicely tie together new releases of the two operating systems as well as the launch of their move to the cloud and would explain why they're bringing the two operating systems together to a single event for the first time.

Mashable reported (http://mashable.com/2011/03/13/verizon-iphone-tim/) that some iPhones were seeing a problem causing it to improperly adjust to daylight savings time in the U.S. Daylight saving time hits tonight/tomorrow morning, which means we all lose an hour of sleep unless you have a Verizon iPhone, in which case youll wake up utterly confused, as phones are currently falling back an hour. They originally pinpoint the problem to Verizon iPhones, but also report that some AT&T iPhones may be affected too.
We've seen reports (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1115831) (another (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1115711)) from our readers that have seen the problem which also seems to affect alarms going off in the morning.

That sounds good enough to me and the millions who will buy it.
There isn't a single added feature listed there to make it worth the extra ~$100 to get a new iPhone instead of the identical iPhone 4 at discount.

Granted www.cpuscorecard.com doesn't really clarify what benchmarks they use, but in their estimation, a dual 1.25GHz Mac beats a 2.4 Ghz P4 by a hair, and is just a little behind a 2.8 GHz P4. Likewise, a 800MHz G4 is very comparable to a 1.8 Ghz P4. The important thing that I see in this ranking is that in perusing the rest of this website, the people who came up with these ratings do not look to be particularly Mac friendly.
Based on this, I would have to disagree with your assertion that "the g4 cannot beat the p4 in performance", unless your only criteria for performance is sheer GHz speed. It seems to me that at the high end, the two chips are at least competitive, and in the middle of the pack, I would say that Macs are a better buy.

No way in hell. They've already asked their developers to change app resolutions once. 3 screen sizes will never fly with developers.
99.999% likelihood of this being total nonsense.
iPhone 4 dot pitch with iPhone 3G(s) resolution = smaller display and no new resolution for the devs to care about.

Not a surprise, really. I would be quite shocked if the MacBook/MBP lines were not updated before the holiday season, so I'm sure there's some truth to this report. The question, as always, is when. I'd really like to see new models before the end of October...

Wow, I expected PPC support to drop in a few years, not a few months. Sucks for anyone with the Quad G5s. Sucks for me with my dual G5. :(
I hope this won't be a common trend.
