Yes, I guess the slowdown will happen when it hits the 2005 mark when PERM was introducted and a lot of EB3 were converted into EB2
Yep, that's "bull period". But assuming AOS bulletin mirrors CP bulletin, it looks like USCIS has decided to play with EB2-India. According to its own process, if USCIS might be working then this bulletin was not expected. 2 things I can think of. (1)EB3-ROW (From which numbers flow to EB2 -ROW then Eb2-countries) is confirmed empty and thus EB2-ROW is empty too (2) Somehow abrupt decision. If it is no:1 then it is really good news. But if it 2 then it will be bad for EB3-India as EB3-India is the MOST suffered lot during 2002-8. and Per country limit will make it more suffered with this illegitimate forward movement of EB2-India. Let's wait for AOS bulletin.

It is completely unpredictable. Actually when you file I485 USCIS does not process FIFO(They are supposed to). For example there are 10k gc are left for the year. First they will process the applications which are cleared FP based on PD and receipt date. Always risk is there when filing without marriage. You are safe till USCIS starts process your application. When they take your application for processing then you cannot add your spouse. Also if CIR decides to process backlogs faster then also you will be in problem. Best option is if your marriage is already fixed do it within 3 months and file GC before PD is backdated. You need not file July first. You can wait till Jul15 to see next VB and decide.
You guys are amazing.. I have one hypothetical question.. Please pls let me know what you would have done in the below scenario. I think a simple yes or no answer is what I am looking for.
PD is Apr 06 - I-140 approved - Currently Unmarried WILL TAKE ATLEAST ONE YEAR BEFORE I GET MARRIED - My Spouse will be residing in India at the time of marriage - Spouse would not have any valid U.S visa (H1 or L1).
I have read this thread and others, and I think I understand a little on how the process works. I am looking for your gut-feeling answer if I should apply for 485 or wait till I get married. Lets assume that my marriage will take place only after one year from now.
I know its a very very tricky situation, I am very confused. Obviously, my preference is to wait for a longer time to get my GC, than separated from spouse for years.
Should I apply for 485 or not?

It took me around 4 years. EB2 India, started as a scientist later physician and endless headaches ...... but its over now. Got my card yesterday. Its an amazing stress relief and confidence booster.
I could have tried EB1 too but wasnt sure how it would turn out hence stuck to EB2.
PD Dec 2005, EB2, RD for 485 Sept 2007. Welcome notice August 5 2008.
For some odd reason I got a red on this forum. I dont know who did that and why. But I dont care.....
For those who are waiting: Keep pushing and thinking of new ways of making this work. if you are EB3 try to become EB2 and even EB1. In the end all that matters is getting the card.
As regards this forum. I never contributed but found this to a good source of information.
bye bye:)
while announcing your green card? sigh.

Based on my understanding once 485 is filed, one can only get one year H1b extension it does not matter if one uses EAD/AP.
i thought it had to do with visa numbers being unavailable rather than 485 filing
we should check on this

This is an excellent idea. For those who have already registered on change.gov know how effectively the president-elect is using this website. I get regular updates on whats happening with their healthcare initiative and they also regularly ask for people's opinion on different issues.
Alterego: Great point-to-point elaboration. Folks remember to add up your own story based on these points and I think we can expect some positive results.
We need to increase the intensity of this campaign.

For PMP I think, you need to take some courses, I had taken some courses at Berkeley Online on project management, these courses count towards PMP.
They also have in class courses, if you are interested.
Better to do something than nothing.

Hope it helps,

Zoom, thanks for the initiative. Just wanted to make sure if there are any legality issues behind core accessing the IV funds for administrative costs. Because once we donate it to IV funds(unless there is a provision for them to access that money as reimbursement administrative cost) it may not serve the intended purpose.
WE ARE WAITING FOR THE RESPONSE FROM CORE TEAM ABOUT THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE.
Or maybe, a member who is a CPA, probably can answer this question?

Can we take the following decision. (this question is for the regular members who reply to peoples queries)
Questions that ask for any help or suggestion will be answered only if the persons signature mentions that they have contributed.
People who dont want to contribute can go to elsewhere and ask questions
With total contributions < 20% (may be lower) then Payton Boggs fees (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=50347&postcount=4) and repeated requests to focus on financial contributions, $0 contributing members continue (with utter dis-regard to financial contributions) to post in IV forums.
There is a member with $0 contributions but 239 posts (often non-english) containing utter nonsense. My dog can post 100 posts and become a senior member. However, my dog will be less shameless so as to avoid misusing someone's scarse resources.
We have 97% (of 9,000) members who can not pay $20. This is when Aman has spent 30-40K and core members have spent in K's.
The Skilled tag of IV members is only for Labor Certification. Shame on all financially non-contributing members and non-members who continue to hang here.
How dare you find IV only when you have a question?
How dare you get depressed and frustated on IV forums?
How dare you continue discussing unrelated issues when we don't have finances for Patton Boggs?

Hey that is not fair, you shouldn't be able to change the background because you will earn votes for it and not for the iPod design... it interfeers.
You can change your background if they want too... mine took like 3 seconds to make. People know we're voting for skins, not backgrounds.

I replied but it did not get posted so here it goes again.
By asking me to recommend books you are signing up for trouble.;)
I will list in the order of mathematical knowledge to stat arb and high frequency trading and building your own model based trading platforms.
A good starting point for any financial engineer are these two books from my Professors.
Principles of Financial Engineering- Neftci
Benchmark approach to quantitative finance- Platen - this is very academic.
For practical quant knowledge:
Paul Wilmott on Quantitative Finance
Tools for Incomplete Markets, 2nd Edition Ales Cerny
Quantitative Financial Economics, 2nd Edition Cuthbertson
Now for High frequency and stat arb:
High Frequency trading- Aldridge
The econometrics of sequential trade models- kokot
Staticall arbitrage- pole
Building Automated Trading Systems: With an Introduction to Visual C++.NET - I have personally not red this one as I am not a code writer/programmer but programmers I know say this is very good.
Applied quantitave methods for trading and investments- Dunis
I also recommend reading Volatility trading- Sinclair. Good book for options
I can go on and on but I thing this should keep you busy for a couple of years:D
smisachu,
Where can one learn about high frequency trading ? Can you suggest books that mathematically model various instruments price movements such as stocks, options and futures ?
Thanks in Advance!

I wont get into EB2/EB3 fights, but tell you what my opinion about this is.
The law definitely supports interfiling and priority date porting. However, this is like reserving seats on a bus by throwing your handkerchief in good old India. It is unfair to let people jump ahead in the queue, even though they acquired the eligibility to file in EB2, at a far later date.
There might be some genuine cases where people could not file in EB2, even though they were eligible. I only support these cases.
I've a pending EB2 485. However, let me be honest. If I had EB3 to start with, I too would've interfiled in EB2 and would've ported my priority date. Who wouldn't do it if the law allowed them to!
+1 to that.
