I totally agree with your idea and am sure that it would be great relief for all of us. But USCIS is so lazy that they do adjudicate cases which have their priority dates as "current". It would be a miracle if they really adjudicate all cases even if the visa number is not available. I think we should also push for a system where USCIS should release the total number of cases adjudicated on a weekly/monthly basis so that the process is transparent and we can see how much work they do.
I hope they pre-adjudicate all our cases and end our miseries.

Thanks for all the responses and suggestion. All your suggestions mean one thing my filling the H1 this year is near to impossible. well i understand the situatiuon and now i'm in a state to plan my moves.
Firstly can i take my OPT back and continue my current masters?? I sent the forms on say 1st of April..
Sencond, Is this an option that i file my H1 with some firm next year (2008) and after my opt expires join for a Masters/PHD course get a F1 status so that i can stay in the US, then when my H1 comes to act on Oct 2008 can i take that and withdraw from the Masters program and also change from F1 to H1??? Is this possible coz this is what i might plan to do.....
Please help me out. Thanks againg for the responses..

If First/Last name in all immigration related applications/docs match with entries in corrected passport, I don't think you need anything else. Green Card, when received, should have entries as in passport.
Thanks, jsb
But, how are they going to verify and match entries in passport now. Entry in their system, now may be 'LNU'

Congress.org - News : Why Bill Gates cares about immigration (http://www.congress.org/news/2010/05/24/why_bill_gates_cares_about_immigration)
Why Bill Gates cares about immigration
Foreign workers have a stake in fight to change laws.
Activists on both sides of the immigration debate tend to focus on the millions of illegal immigrants whose fate rests on whether Congress passed a law.
But foreigners here legally also have a stake in this fight.
The U.S. issues temporary worker visas, called H-1B after their official classification, to thousands of non-residents each year. Often, they hold college degrees and have technical skills.
Microsoft and other technology companies hire many workers this way. They often have to prove they can't hire skilled U.S. citizens to fill those jobs first.
Bill Gates wrote in the Washington Post several years back that there is an employment gap that H-1B visas help fill:
This issue has reached a crisis point. Computer science employment is growing by nearly 100,000 jobs annually. But at the same time studies show that there is a dramatic decline in the number of students graduating with computer science degrees.
The United States provides 65,000 temporary H-1B visas each year to make up this shortfall -- not nearly enough to fill open technical positions.
H-1B workers, who have united under grassroots groups like Immigration Voice , want more than just an increase in visas. They want the government to streamline the rules.
Currently, the workers have to apply for green cards through their employers, often a lengthy and cumbersome process. They can't switch jobs easily and sometimes have to reapply for a visa even if they move jobs within the same company. They have to leave the country every few years before they can reapply for a visa.
The workers can also apply for a spouse to come to the U.S., but their partners are not allowed to work under the H-4 status granted to them. The activists argue that those individuals represent a skilled base of workers who could contribute to the U.S. economy and help pay for household expenses.
Powerful corporations back the H-1 B workers in their demands, since it would make it easier for them to hire skilled workers. But groups like Numbers USA argue that those companies shouldn't hire non-residents at a time when many Americans are jobless.
-- Ambreen Ali, Congress.org
The amount of frustation people go through because of this stupid power mongering false value politicians and the organisations like Numbers USA etc is more than the tragedy of Gulf oil spill. People are holding on to their travel to home country because of this stupid idoitic laws. Educated people are treated like slaves. Why in America Immigration means Illegal? the back log is around 50,000 and added to it 50,000 more will not grab American Jobs. and the American job losses are because of the so called mulltinational companies greed for money, they out source everything to India, China and Philippines. (example Call centers) And offshore development. America only gained because of LEGAL immigration.
Might is Right works here.

Here is the dilemma.... The Idea is great...It can change our lives But if we sit on the idea for long it will rot So DO WE TAKE ACTION or LET US WAIT FOR CORE TO COME UP WITH SOLUTION. I would suggest we form a small committee or group of people who can brainstorm and come up with possible course of actions and then present the idea to core.
This is similar to House->Judiciary committee -> Immigration sub Committee
idea is to analyze the situation and come up with the best solution rather than waiting for
CORE to act on.
Sounds like a plan. Newbie2020, does your earlier offer for a bridge still stand ? If yes, whoever is interested in attending the initial bridge call, send me a PM with your contact number and name and we will take it from there.

It is good idea. And ofcourse better than visa number, EB1/EB2/EB3 and all other crap. Countries like UK, Canada, etc. have similar kind of immigration policies.

at some point the visa numbers are going to be all used up. The lucky ones would get their GC by then and the others will have to wait for a few months.
Why worry over it? The line only gets shorter and shorter and everybody will get their turn sooner than later.
As long as they don't waste any visa numbers, there is no need for any worry. Even their random processing order does not bother me that much, because demand for EB2 will be less than supply next year. Its time for EB3 to fasten the seat belts....

To those of you'll willing to send this out .. hold on until I post the final version of the letter as it appears to require some editing.
Once again, whats the email of the Ombudsman? I would also like to send this to the USCIS. How do I go about it?

how does this information will make IV a great success?
Thanks for sharing the news buddy. You are a great immigrant.
Suggestion to all IV member: I hear Sean Hannity saying, "You are a great American" to the callers who shares his beliefs. I think we should start saying, "You are a great immigrant" to our fellow members who are sharing news or putting in extra efforts to make this organization and our cause a success.

After all these posts your plan of action is to start a blog and send emails to Congress. :D
Is that all you can think of? I suggest you educate yourself first on how laws in Congress are changed. Talk to others who were able to change laws in Congress. Then find out how they did it, money they spent, time it took and people it took.
In this country if you want to do anything via congress you have to lobby. Tell me one bill in this country that was passed because someone created a blog and emailed congress.
Before laughing at others why don't you update your profile with your GC filing details??

Now, instead of getting her into trouble you have to get yourself out of trouble first.
Find a cool way to send her out.
You will be in trouble anytime in future if she proves that you have employed her illegally in the past.
Going a bit tough here, sorry for that.
1. You both are in H1B (assuming you must know laws behind H1B)
2. Able to find someone inexpensive who can take care of your valuable baby
3. Powerful knowledge in technology to setup a secret camera to capture what she does the whole day
4. Collect all evidences and planning to penalize her
But you are not aware of the simple fact that it is illegal to hire and pay someone without notifying appropriate government agencies.
Anytime in future, if she is caught(chances are more as she is clearly not aware of the laws here and how serious is beating a child, if not in your place some other place), expect query from INS/IRS. This is a different country.
