This one is not a prediction, but a proposal to redraw the boundaries of the middle east. The core idea behind the proposal is that the state boundaries of middle east are unnatural, and it has given rise to artificial, nonviable and oppressive states. The only way to permanently solve the problems of islamic terrorism is to redraw the boundaries of the entire region.
The idea has been floating around on the Internet for a couple of years now. coming to your question below - I haven't applied for GC but I plan to soon. and common sense tells me that unless all the ones infront of me get theirs, I should wait for a loooong time and that is enough motivation for me to go to DC rally, work on IV action items, join the state chapter and most important CONTRIBUTE so that IV has the funds that will eventually help me. july 2007 fiasco didn't help me to get my EAD but that doens't mean I have to spill my frustation in bad taste in an educated forum with stupid handle..
if you are NOT planning to apply for GC and go back to your home country - no body is stopping you. you are FREE to move back. H4 dependents can't work and there is no surprize there. thats the rule they had in place from day 1. if you don't like it - do something about it and let us know what you are doing - we might actually support you.
if you think ranting in public forums and showing your frustation on one community is "showing courage".... well.. I hope you get well soon...

I think this has been discussed on some other thread.. would it be a good idea to make the contributions public.. may be, this encourages others to contribute, when they realize how much more is needed to reach the monetary goal.

I think that is enough transparency. There will be more when they file tax returns.

Exactly! You can not expect them to do equally well in Indian school system as what they are performing in US. The school system focus is completely different and there is no easy way out for kids/parents to adapt to it. I am not criticizing either school systems. Both of them have pros and cons. And all this discussion holds true when you have option to move to Canada. If you don't, then it's better to pack before the kids grow older.If you have kids then its easy to move to India before the Kid goes to 2nd or 3rd grade ie before they are 8 or 9 yrs old. After that there is no way you can take a kid out of school in US and expect them to be competitive in India.
This is based on US public school system standards (if you are homeschooling its different). I had friends when I was in India who had lived all their lives in Middle Eastern countries and even though they had studied in Indian system they felt it difficult to compete there.

For that a new mindset is needed fortified with human resources and budget appropriations. My labor clearance was stuck in SWAs and backlog centers for 3 years. I talked to the SWA officer in charge in my state of CO. He said, this is federal work and there is no money appropriated.
Here is the showcase of how the USCIS works on legal ALIENS(from reliable Ombudsman report):
FBI Namecheck status (pg. 37 of the report)
As of May 2007, USCIS reported a staggering 329,160 FBI name check cases pending, with approximately 64 percent (211,341) of those cases pending more than 90 days and approximately 32 percent (106,738) pending more than one year. While the percentages of long-pending cases compared to last year are similar, the absolute numbers have increased. There are now 93,358 more cases pending the name check than last year. Perhaps most disturbing, there are 31,144 FBI name check cases pending more than 33 months as compared to 21,570 last year � over a 44 percent increase in the number of cases pending more than 33 months.
It is easy to see how border fence, employment verification, Border Control, DOL, FBI, USCIS will TOTALLY fail when you bring in 12 to 20 mil. I see no hope, eihter for anybody. No wonder, many are shouting at the top of their voices voicing strong objection.

We should this opportunity to get the USINPAC to join our fight for timely immigration benefits. Now that IV is an established voice for the immigrant community, hopefull USINPAC will be ready accept IV and join the us.

Even if every member of IV is given a green card this afternoon, none would be able to vote in 5 years, unless you are in the military. We have less connection to the citizens in the United States than the undocumented workers. Latino citizens vote for more Latinos, but some Chinese citizens may think there are too many Chinese in the United States already!
In one word, none of us can vote in 5 years. Neither can we persuade the citizens we know.
Then, why ED should mention high-skilled worker in an article for VOTE anyway?

Your case is eligible the chances are high that you'll get it, if dates remain current. And as folks have mentioned, 180 days rule applies. Your infopass will tell you clearly what's happening to your NC but that is immaterial.
I realized your original question was about FP and its expiry and not about NC. So I withdrew my original post to remind you of the 180 day rule which says where the application is otherwise approvable and the FBI name check request has been pending for more than 180 days, the adjudicator shall approve the I-485 and proceed with card issuance.
Yeah, the official rule was clearly communicated (to us) about the 180 days since I-485 filing (if it was pending for 180 days...).
But that rule wasn't followed at the end of FY2008 (Aug/Sept 2008).
In fact, some customer service reps even mentioned something to the effect of this law would be enforced only from Feb.2009 or something to that effect.
That is part of the concern with new fingerprinting once the 15-months expire and you have go through the FP/NC process all over again.

Best way to get more immigrants to participate in advocacy efforts by immigrationvoice.org for legal immigration is by communicating to international student organizations of various universities around virginia, maryland, washingtondc,west virginia north and south carolina. Arranging busses for the students is not a bad idea.
