regarding FP, there are cases where no FP notice came after July 2007 filing, like mine, thats more than 15 months. And recenlty my friend's wife who applied as his dependent got FP notice, but he didn't. He's july 2007 filer too. So, not sure if FP notice really means anything.

NK2006 thanks for the post my family and I recently entered US using AP and fortunately we were not questioned at POE. I am in similar situation waiting for 485 and filed AC21 when I changed jobs after six months.
That is not to say that we will not have problem in future. You mention your wife showed them a copy of rules pertaining to AC21. Can you post a link or post them here.
My lawyer never advised me to carry any such documents.

FYI majority of Desi companies follow the rules as stipulated by US laws. There definitely are abuses in any law. Do you think all wallstreet firms played by rules in this financial mess.
If there are abuses that should be enforced. No doubt about it.
Please stop generalizing from these incidents. There are good majority of IV folks who work for good consulting companies.
If you don't want IV to be reduced to an organization of couple of hundred members, please stop generalizing. After all that is what anti-immigrants are doing.

The only thing that can help us predict Sep bulletin is how many visa # have been used so far from 2009 quota. Since USCIS will be rushing to use up all visa # the quantity can least give us an idea if dates will move few months or few years. USCIS should not have trouble with either since they have so many pre-adjudicated applications to take care of both scenario's. I am pretty optimistic (realistically confident) that there will be a forward movement.

YogKc, how did you get the temp license? which state? am I eligible for temp licese at PA if I did not get the license before the current one expires..
green_world, it's in Los Angeles, CA. They will provide you the Temp DL. They will tell you that they need check with the Immigration office.
I think the best bet will be to renew the license thru web if possible.

AmitKhare77... apparently, the job title and job responsibilities have to be same as whats on labor until we get GC. otherwise no promotion.
Actually, I believe that if the promotion is a "natural progression of the job ladder", you can accept it. What you cannot do is change the job ladder completely to a different track.
Thus, say you filed labor when a software engineer, its ok to be promoted to "Senior Software Engineer. What is not ok is to change tracks to say "Product Manager" or a position as "Sales lead" etc...
Of course, i'm not a lawyer, but this is what i;ve been told by other folks and lawyers at my company.

Low cost markets like atlanta, Tx can support rent. But high cost markets like boston,ca , your rent will not be sufficient to pay mortgage and other costs.
