Agree 100%. Atleast when Bush was in office there were bills introduced that encouraged skilled immigration Eg: Those who have been around for a while would remember the Cornyn-Kyl bill from 2005.
Everybody likes to talk about the Clinton era, but don't forget that Republicans had majority then. So we may see good things happen after the November 2010 elections if dems lose majority in both house and senate. And it will be good for Mr.Bamster to govern from the center going forward than to hang out with the far-left, may even fetch him another 4 years.
Very true last relief AC21 was passed when republican party had control over Senate and Congress. That time the deomcratic party wanted amnesty but "their" version of the bill never got a chance to be heard by the repuiblican leadership who had control over teh agenda. Now with Pelosi et al in change they do not allow any piecemeal bill to be tabled unless its part of the CIR

Immigration Voice Advocacy Days in Washington DC: 7th & 8th June, Announcement:2010
With the continued success of the high skilled community to create more awareness for Employment Based green card backlogs, Immigration Voice will hold Advocacy Days, Press Conference and Congressional Reception in Washington DC on 7th June & 8th June.
Every member must participate in these Advocacy Days events in DC. Congress will be back from Memorial Day recess in early June and there will be a fresh look at the Comprehensive Immigration Reform, which includes high-skills immigration.
After having favorable consequences from our past effort, it is now time to have a bigger event in the front-yard of Congress in Washington DC, so that the long ignored issue of visa backlogs (retrogression) is addressed. This event will be hugely consequential as it will help our issues get much more coverage in the media and much more attention of Congress because of 2 reasons: It will be a really big crowd and secondly, it will be in Washington DC. Immigration Voice will arrange for meetings, advocacy material, and other logistics necessary for all the events during the Advocacy Days. All you have to do is show up.
Please plan to take two day off on 7th & 8th June to attend these events. If you do not live within the driving distance of DC, then there is ample time for you to book travel by air or by train ahead of time. 7th & 8th June is Monday & Tuesday, and if you book your travel and accommodation ahead of time (and there is plenty of time still) then you can participate with minimal expense.
Immigration Voice wants to do something as consequential as the flower campaign and the San Jose rally but only this time, it will be much bigger and much more consequential aimed at Congressional action on immigration reform to address visa backlogs and broken system of high-skills immigration. We aim to resolve this issue but we cannot do it alone and therefore it is imperative for everyone, and by that we mean EVERY ONE to show up. If you wanted to be a part of the past events but couldn’t, then now is your chance to make your voices heard and fight for a fair system and just process.
Always remember, we are in United States at the invitation of our employers and our employers have filed our green card petitions in order to retain us. It is only fair and only just to ask for a system that achieves that objective without delays and without putting the immigrants in probationary limbo for 6-12 years. And it is your obligation to yourself and your family to stand up for your rights and ask congress to legislate and fix the system so that it works the way it was originally intended to work. Just ask a participant of September-2007 DC rally how proud and how satisfied everyone was after the rally – not just due to impact – but just because they have stood up and spoken up for their issue.
In the two days, we plan on having over 400 meetings with the Administration (for both Admin and Legislative fixes), Office of Senators and Representatives.
As we are beginning to take appointments on your behalf but we need your confirmation before we setup Advocacy day meetings for you. Please fill in the online form (in less than 1 minute) to let us know about your plans. We will need this basic information to setup your meetings with the lawmakers.

As one would imagine it is extremely demanding project to setup, coordinate, plan and execute 400 meetings for members coming from all 50 States. It will very much help us if you could please let us know about your plans to attend the Advocacy Days in DC, sooner rather than later.
Please stay tuned for more updates about other updates. In the meantime, please plan to travel with friends and family and let your friends know about this event. By Direction of the Chairman
09/23/2008
Full Committee
1:00 P.M. in 2141 Rayburn House Office Building
Continued Committee Markup of: H.R. 6598, H.R. 5882, H.R. 5924, H.R. 5950, and
To consider: a resolution and report recommending to the Hous of Representatives that Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey be cited for contempt of Congress
I am not sure why someone said that it is scheduled for 24th.
I've started calling and made first call to the chairman's office. I told the man that I'd called to express my grattitude and thank the chairman. Then I requested the chairman to take a yes/no vote on this bill and to take the bill to its logical conclusion, at least in the Jud Committee.
Please remember, "thank you" packs awesome power and all members should convery their thanks to the chairman and request a vote on the bill for logical conclusion.
I have not finished calling yet and I iwll update the poll only after I have made all the calls. From this thread it looks like the hearing is on 24th. If that is the case I will make the calls tomorrow so that I could actually talk to someone.

So USCIS will never see the flowers becoz they are boxed.. and they will never get delivered becoz they are being routed from the airport itself. No major news media covered the few deliveries at USCIS.. What was the point of the campaign again?
For those of you who is interested in one line Q/A
"Is the flower campaign working? Yes"
"Are we good enough with what we have done? Not 100%"
What happened
We were at the loading dock by 10 30 am ( Delivery estimate was between 11 am and 1 pm) and DHL appeared to
have already delivered around 50 boxes once around 9 am. All the flowers we sent are boxed . The visuals will
be boxes and not flowers in the evening when the youtube video will be uploaded. UPS delivered nex. We got the
video of the whole delivery and so did the CNN-IBN/Voice of America folks. There were around 30 boxes or so from
UPS. Next Fedex delivered and there were around 10-15 boxes coming out. While we were doing the recording one of the
officers politely told us not to capture federal buildings and we told them that we were only capturing the delivery of
flowers. After this what ever truck was coming in, they were reversing and pushing back into the dock so that the
delivery cannot be taped. CNN-IBN reporter asked for permission to go inside the loading dock and she was promptly
denied any permission. Then We had a down pour for almost 20-30 minutes and we had to leave the place.
It appears that the S&H dept now knows that most of the flowers are being delivered by DHL/UPS/FEDEX, they are taking
care of the diversion at National airport it self.
In the future if any one wants to do a flower campaign, Please select 2 local florists
(only two florists, in that particular city) and have people call and place orders/online. That way
we can talk with 2 florists and track their delivery easily for picture/video. Every one who tried to call
FTD/proflowers had alot of trouble getting any thing out of them. Actually, we cant blame them because they
are not doing it locally, instead they are putting their orders via national carriers.
Where do we go from here
If people really want to go out and get the main stream media attention, DC is the perfect choice. How ever,Don't plan on a weekend. If we do it right, we could be live on TV and the whole country will ask whats going on, along with the law makers. That will offer a platform for solving the issue at its roots. If you really want to do this, Dont come up with reasons like I dont have time off for a day or I have a project due. I can understand if 1 or 2% of our active members say it, but when 98% of our active members say that I can understand what it is. May be its time we figure out whether we prefer anonymity and pontifical verbatim on the online forum to expressing our concern/disappointment openly. Do not get offended and start flaming me. Just my thoughts.

Patriotism is depends upon individual thinking. My friend's uncle is a former army officer from India and he is in the USA for 35 years. Participated in 1971 war. But he didn't become US citizen. I asked why, he told me he took the oath to serve India and fight for her whenever there is a requirement. So he want to keep his oath. If he want to become US citizen he need to break the oath and take a oath to fight for USA, even if against India. He is not a RSS or VHP person. He is a christian (for your info).
So patriotism is not by speech or blogging from USA. It is by action. How many people help poor people in India ?. Most members here want to become US citizen. Only complaint is the delay. So love your counry of birth and love the country giving opportunities.
Can you please provide us any link or legal constitutional document from any legal organization in India and USA which states that Patriotic Indian ( For the sake of argument Indian) should not apply for US Green Card ( Permanent residency)? Or for that matter can you legally proove that not applying for US GC is the barometer of patriotism towards India for an Indian?
Do you have any reading comprehension capabilities?
Read the first sentence of following link and let me know what do you comprehend?
Your lesson for US immigration starts from here.

I did create a poll to make a guesstimate of how many are ready to march in Detroit (when the weather was much better !).
Guess what only 14 members showed interest ! 14 members strolling down Detroit riverfront in freezing sub-zero temperatures - do you call it a rally?
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15456
When we conducted D.C. rally, there were roughly 1500 people attended. Each member has his/her own reason for not attending the rally.
The reasons could be, taking a day off from work or to far from their place etc..,
As a first step……..:)
Why don’t we plan for rally on the same day, same time at various major cities? This would enable members to attend in their respective cities.
We knew that, we are 25K+ members strong and can hold rallies/protests, where we have (major cities) at least 100+ members.
We must invite media and local US leader’s for rally and show our strength and request them to work towards the Green Cards.
Why don’t we plan for a rally during the this Christmas season?

I would say to core group to not spend any of their valuable time and energy replying to negative posts.
It will be great if IV gets relief this time, if not we are prepared for the long struggle.

It is important to note that for this particular sample size of 246 cases, the percentages listed above represent statistically valid figures based on generally accepted statistical reporting guidelines.
without the number of student intake doubling/trembling up to make it one
The number of foreign students has definitely increased since then. The quota is not that
big, so even a small increase like say 10% in the number of foreign students is enough to
swamp the quota.

These numbers are truly historic," says Goli Ameri, assistant secretary of State for educational and cultural affairs. "We haven't just covered lost ground we have now surpassed" previous records.
Plus more than enrollment, it is the economy that governs how soon the quota is reached. In my experience, the economy
showed good growth after 2005, which understandably led to increased hiring.
again i dont know if thats what the anti-immi's complain

The employers will still be paying only the official prevailing wage, which is far
below the real market wage, and it will be business as usual. Again, this is the
loopholes at work, in this case in the legal definition of prevailing wage. Most
employers who are using H-1Bs as cheap labor are doing so FULLY LEGALLY.
The true rate of abuse of the H-1B program is near 100%.
THE FRAUD ISSUE IS IRRELEVANT

Thats I read in his forum...
IP is banned?
I am sure he has heard of IP hiding techniques. If I were banned based on my IP, and I consistently want to post dividing threads on IV, would I not use a hidemyip plugin or post thru one of the hide my IP websites?
there has to be a different reason of banning him.

I am not saying that it is working on the USCIS. We dont know yet coz the flowers start reaching there tommorow. If it is working on USCIS, we would know by the end of the week. Not now.
But it is working on the media.
What I am saying is we are getting a good amount of attention from a lot of newspapers - which is important to create more awareness on the plight of half a million law abiding immigrants and the backlogs they are facing.
Which newspapers are these guys? Which newspapers are covering or are interested in covering this story?

Agreed - everyone, lets put this to rest.
I did not mean any offense to people who couldn't attend attend for valid reasons, more those that didn't care at all to help.

I think John Hancock\Manulife Financial is the biggest in business . It used to be the second largest after AIG but ever since AIG's fall it is now at the top.

You are not the only one....my application was also sent on July 2nd and I got FP notices (both my wife and I) and AP approved (both my wife and I).
My wife received EAD on 10/22 and so far there has been absolutely no update on my LUD and EAD application is still pending. The service center is Nebraska and I am the primary applicant. I think there a a lot of people in the same boat.
Good (and sorry) to know someone in similar situation. My spouse's EAD was also approved on 11/15.

Let me guess, you are a pakistani terrorist. Now you are jealous that how come an Indian muslim win 2 oscars? How will you give out your hateful message to other pakistanis terrorists that indian muslims are being torchured, so you have to "save" indian muslims. Too bad, no pakistani got an oscar. I know why, because the terror capital of the world is going down the drain pretty fast.

Cool down, Sanju. I am a little surprised to read your flaming post, which buddyinfo didn't deserve. He/she didn't allude to anything that you are talking about. Usually, you write sensible posts. I will leave it at that.

Actually, I dont know how to tackle your issue but I went ahead and certified my 131 efile without putting MI as I dont have it. I am waiting for my receipt now. I think, its an USCIS application issue.
I have heard that USCIS is going to bring a law. Which states that if you have used AP you have to use your EAD. Or After using if you extend your H-1B than you have to go for a visa stamping. I am confuse how true is this rumor is?
any comments

Ye...we all see your moral standard here.
You reputation has gone up because you are supporting a shoplifter over hook...? wow. Support sex offenders, rapist and drug addict and kidnappers... you would get even more reputation.
Each of our past has its own dark stories buried somewhere.
Who are we to decide whats wrong and what right? are we that "good" to say that OP is "bad"??
Have we lived a honest and sincere life?? we should ask these questions to ourselves before weilding knife at OP.
Give the OP guy a break. He is expressing remorse for what happened [again i am not getting into the discussion of whether he is innocent or criminal here].
But do remember that all "shoplifters" are not criminals. Some go through misunderstanding process and get convicted. So without understanding what exactly happened, don't start judging people.
OP: you are showing remorse, you are one step closer to forgiveness from god.
Regarding immigration issues, please consult a criminal immigration attorney [they do case analysis and give you memo kind of thing that describes whether you case falls into CMT or not, and whether you are admissible or not]

What is the BIG DEAL? So what if we are called Anchor Immigrants? This is typical Indian mentality to looks for small issues. I care a damn if we are called DOG IMMIGRANTS. It does not change anything.
