No, they count MS REQUIREMENT FOR POSITION as 4 yrs toward total SVP time according to that doc link I posted. These 4 yrs include 2 for BS plus 2 additional for MS. It is how they count. Nobody knows or cares how long it actually took you to get MS.

I don't think linking GC to anything, leave alone buying a house, is such a good idea. I bought my house when only my 140 was approved.
But on the other hand buying a house is a huge responsibility which will, at the very least, take out the flexibility in your movement. Paying rent is not always a waste of money if you look for other means of investment. Hoses are not going to appreciate the way they used to. You'll be lucky if they appreciate by even 1%.
If your eventual plan is live here permanently, then yes go ahead by all means. You won't find better home prices and better loan rates than now.
Pay attention to the expenses you'll incur after buying a home, most importantly
1) Utility Costs (be particularly worried if you live in snow areas).
2) Maintenance (Regular community maintenance and interior maintenance).
3) Property Taxes (if you live in areas like NY, NJ, they'll only go up from already Highs)
4) Child Day care expenses (When you are ready to send your kids to day care, this expense will hurt you the biggest in terms of meeting your mortgage commitments).

No vkkkk, I'm not playing. What some people are saying is logic and what i'm saying is the fact. You seems new in this form. But i think most of the people here are serious and try share their sufferings, free help from freinds (virtual).

If you were unmarried at the time of filing, you will need to continue on current status (e.g. H-1B) otherwise you cannot bring your spouse.

What do these numbers mean?
There will be 1.4M+ AOS applications by Aug 17 which will take 1.4M/140K = 10+ years. That is, priority dates (PD) will remain retrogressed for several years.
Those who could not file their I-485 now will now have to waitttttt…..
Due to resource constraints, security checks may take years.
Once PD becomes current, it takes on an average 1 year to 3 years to get approval.
Endless cycle of EAD renewals and Advance paroles.
If working on EAD and for any reason, if any of your EAD gets rejected, you will need to stop working, In other words, need to leave your job.
You need to be in the same position with same job responsibilities for an indefinite time period otherwise you Green Card application will be rejected.
EADs are valid for one year and several employers (and rightly so) view it as a temporary permit and hence reluctant to hire you.
Once PD becomes current, it takes on an average 1 year to 3 years to get approval.
So virtually you have three options: a) Struggle for several years b) Leave the USA c) Join us.
Legislative Efforts
EB Immigration reforms do not find enough support on the senate floors (Failure of SKIL, STEM etc Bills). As a matter of fact, it does not even get enough support to make it debatable, let alone final voting on the bills.
IV grassroot effort (flower campaign and SJ rally) was a very important reason for retraction of July Visa Bulletin.

Why not EB2 to EB1 is because, EB1 is for exceptionally skilled people(athletes, doctors, multi-national managers(via L1A) etc). For EB2 candidates to be pushed to EB1, they need to exceptionally skilled which cannot be gained via experience but by acquiring skills which will place them in those categories.
If they can acquire those skills, then they automatically qualify for EB1 or EB1-NIW and can apply anytime by themselves. Note, EB1 does not need a labor approval too.
Hope that makes clear the distinction between EB1, EB2 & EB3. Employment-based GC applying lessons 101...of course this is the simplest one...:D

If you dissect EB1 data you would find that EB1C used bulk of it except for this year due to bad economy and tightening of screws. This category should be reserved for those who are managing at least 100 people or control business in several millions. I agree that EB1 should be just for the exceptional.

My wife does not ahve paystubs from Oct 06 to Dec 06 and no W2 for year 2006. SO I would need a absence letter. Any for mat of letter would be appreciated.
We have paystubs from jan 07 to Jun 07 and plan to leave in July after filing 485 and plan to re enter in August using unexpired H4 visa.
I know of someone who used unexpired H4 visa in spite of being on H1 before leaving US
