I am sure you have already tried this, but is renting it out not a good option? Even if you rent it out for half the price than your current monthly mortgage amount and if you get a salary hike of approx that much difference, won't it be better? For e.g., let's say you are paying $2000 monthly mortgage payment and you rent it out for $1000, the difference is $12000 per year (out of your pocket) - would this be approx. equal to the amount of salary increase you are getting if you get a new job?

Answering to the question about making bad decision and having a good job..well it is not my bad decision that has brought down the whole market but the banks and stupid people who took loan and didnt knew the consequences of ARM loans and then started filing for foreclosure.. because of those foreclosures the property rates have went down and i cannot get what i paid for the house.
if this whole mess was not there then anyone can find a good job and sell his house, if not profit then atleast with no loss..

What will you do, in EB3 shoes, if the numbers are not moving in 2-3 months. You got it. MOst of them will change to EB2, right. I will too. I am sure you can imagine the scene then. I know 8 of my 15 friends have already jumped to EB2. And I am sure they have much higher priority date than most of EB2s there. So you know what to expect. Lets ALL support for the common cause.

I understand the frustration. Until two months back my PD was retro. Now, I already have my GC on my EB2-NIW I-140 and also had an approved EB1-OR I-140 recently. I am not here to suggest anyone shouldn't do what they think is best for them.
My own understanding of the law is that EB1 gets the left over EB5, EB2 gets the unused numbers from EB1 and the EB5 that went into EB1 but unused. EB3 gets the unused numbers from EB2 and those from EB1+EB5 unused by EB2. This maintains the preference categories (USCIS's definition, I am not saying EB2 is better than EB3).
No matter how the numbers are distributed, there is more demand than supply. It is unlikely all the unused EB1 and EB2 ROW numbers would fall to EB3 ROW and then to EB3-C/I. Some would surely go to EB2-C/I. Right now everyone is retro except EB1 and EB2 ROW. So, redistribution doesn't fix the problem just redistributes the retrogression.
If we can get the recapture and elimination of country ceiling then everybody benefits. The fact that we have an immigration bill is in itself quite something.
No matter how USCIS or DOS allocates the numbers, there will be backlog and its in everyone's interest whether C/I or ROW to think about pushing for the immigration reform bills.

This is just a message to 2005/2006/2007 PD guys. Please don't think that some miracle will happen and dates will be current soon, it will take its own time. Mostly for EB2 & EB3June 2006- June 2007 guys, it will be like a lottery if the PD becomes current somewhere in 2007 Oct-Nov time. Right??
So life is not always easy. There are people waiting since 2002-03-04.

Why some of the guys became violent when I said, INDIA IS GREAT???

What all these guys and their ilk fail to understand is most of us are pissed off about the way it was implemented and handled rather than the ability to file AOS itself. If we sit and do nothing is like asking uscis / dos to walk all over us again and again. Besides in US law whenever there is a gray area, the decisions are based on precedents. This means if they have done this now means they can do this in any bulletin hence issued. They can issue a bulletin in Oct 2007 and on Nov 2 say "oops sorry my bad wrong bulletin" . Please come out of the basement and face the sun.

I don't know what do you mean by success. as far as media coverage is concerned, Fireign media (India, China or elsewhere) doesn't help. It's local media, which can create some usefull awareness. How does awareness in a different country helps?? I don't know why even people talking coverage about foreig media?????

my lawyer's office just called me saying they would want to file ASAP, for which they want my signatures tomorrow. I met her an hour ago, when she was saying things like "hopefully by next week".

We are a husband and wife, both filing.
My priority date is Oct 06 and my wife's will be July 1st. (or so.)
My wife's company is a large multinational and her job is secure. My company is small and not making oodles of money right now.
So I consider my wife's to be solid and slow and mine to be less solid but faster.
I predict that mine will get approved before hers and they'll drop hers. But because I simply do not trust USCIS to process them without a hitch, we're filing twice. Shotgun theory.
Our lawyers seem to concur. If our PDs were the same and our companies were similar, it probably wouldn't be worth filing twice.
My question is regarding the EADs and APs. I believe that I should file through her because they are more "solid" applications. I assume that the EAD/AP will be processed prior to the 485 and priority date does not affect them. Her job is more secure than mine and so her EAD would be too..

Absolutely, the chances for movement to June 2007 is bright but not in May. One of the old models did predict August 2007 by Sep 2011. That sounds about right and realistic. On the other hand I think the movement will be more. I mean if DOS just moves the dates by 4 months after making such a big announcement ...WTH??
And I thought DOS is gonna move the dates by ONE year into June 2007...ha ha ha...
