A EF-s 50 mm lens is 50 mm on a 1.6 camera. A 50mm EF lens on that same camera is similar in image to a 80mm EF-S lens. The reason for the difference comes into play by the amount of the lens the camera is using to record the image and the proximity of the rear element to the camera sensor.
I have a Sigma 10-20mm (EF-s equivalent) for my 7d. It's Focal lenth is 10-20mm. It's field of view is 16-32mm.
If you could fit it on a full frame (which you can't because of the mirror reflex as explained earlier by someone) but if you could,
it would still have a 10-20mm focal length. However it would have an increased depth of field (over the crop) of 10-20mm.
I dont even think you can get that wide on a full frame. I mean you can get a 8-15mm fish eye, but you would have a circular picture at the widest end.

I'm debating on Pages personally, its too much like a word processor and tries to play a desktop publishing program all in one. I dont mind the UI with my 30" Apple display but it seems too hard to use if you want to start out with a blank document and create anything like they have in the pre-done templates. I was impressed with the demo at MacWorld 2005 that you could have an image and it would automatically wrap text around it and the templates look nice but all in all its very hard to use it to design anything useful.
Pages should stick to either being a desktop publishing program or a word processor.. not both.
There will always be Illustrator and InDesign.

If you turn off 3G, do you get the correct time?
I haven't tried that yet, but I did turn off my automatic time and it went to the correct time then I turned it back on (thinking that it would re-sync) but it didn't.
Well I have power cycled my phone now and it switched to the right time after it connected into the network, but has since fell back an hour.

Yes Digital Color Meter. Great little OSX utility.
You can use the eyedropper tool in Photoshop to select any color on your monitor also. Generally to select a color with the eyedropper you must be in a Photoshop document and you just hover over the color, click down once, and voila. Color is selected.
Now, in order to copy a color from outside Photoshop (let's assume you want to copy a color from a webpage you see in your Firefox browser), you start out the same way. Choose the eyedropper tool, click inside your photoshop document window but don't release the click. Now, with your click still held down, you can move your mouse over your entire screen and photoshop will select any color it sees. When you're hovering over the color you want, just release the button.
I don't find the Photoshop Eyedropper trick to be as accurate as Digital Color Meter, but if you're already using Photoshop and you just need something really quick, it works well.

Why would customers be preferring the Verizon iPad? The (factory unlocked) GSM iPad can be used in nearly every country, and domestically AT&T has faster 3G service if I recall correctly. Although Verizon has better voice and better coverage, I can't see people in metropolitan areas actually being better off with the CDMA iPad. Since the iPad data payment can't be tied to a pre-existing AT&T or Verizon cell phone plan, I just don't see much advantage to getting a Verizon iPad unless you live in an area without AT&T service. Thoughts?
Well, I can get 22% off a Verizon plan, that sort of thing might matter. Although, I don't want a 3G iPad, so....no matter to me.

Math: I regularly get 33Mbps or more at home (got 37 just now), testing with speedtest.net, still haven't broken 1Mbps on V 3G in various places around town.
But I digress...it hardly matters because webpages are simple text. You all can measure your di...er...downloads all you want, but loading a couple text files takes almost no throughput. Video streaming and action gaming are different, of course, but those are not the most common uses of a smartphone or iPad.
I could measure the difference in speed to load a page, say this page of this forum, and it would be obviously faster at home. But it's still only seconds, maybe fractions of seconds. I read fast, but not so fast that 2 seconds or so can change my life. For most people, this is the reality that makes it not matter.* No, I'm not going to choose 3G for Netflix vs my home internet. I envy those that will have MarioKart on this, along with all the other games that I'm sure will be great.
I wasn't even aware there was a Mario Kart game for it. Looks like I have my first 3DS game preordered :o. Was looking for a good launch title to buy too (since I'm probably just going to use mine for DS and GB games for a good while).
The region lock bothered me too, but apparently it's at the discretion of publishers. So I'm happy that it wont be in all games (just most :p).
I'd be leaping over the moon if it was region free.

On your Quad G5? It runs like butta on mine. Did you make sure to use the Combo updater and not the Software Update incremental 10.4.7 updater? I always use the Combo.
I don't know what to tell you. Couple days after I installed 10.4.7 , major issues happened on my quad. I end up with my computer at Apple for repair and 3 weeks later they figure out a combination of 10.4.7 and my GT7800 card were the issue.
Now, I have a new GT card and I use 10.4.6. The kernel comes once a week. So the problem in some way still persist. I hope the new 10.4.8 will address this issue. If not I'll go back to Apple and request a new computer in exchange for the one I have.

Take me and my gf- she works soon I'll have finished studying and be working full time. We won't need a full computer each. Get one mini/MB/MBA and two iPads for the same price as two MBPs.
The iPad is much better for emails/web than computers in my opinion.

I remember reading on Best Buy Canada's website that if you pre-order the game you get access to the Beta... I wonder if that goes for Mac too or just PC. But yeah, I can't wait to see how well it will end up running on the 13" MBP with the "killer graphics"!

Isn't that the IP of Quadra840? I already crippled him by shutting down his power once in a while. He was getting to close. And about those Stinkers, My normal production output is at 300, but with all these Stinkers I'm lucky if my average is 200 a day. We should all complain by Stanford, maybe we can do something about it and get a bit more gromacs.

I have been using Pages and its not that bad
I haved used Word for ages and have since been testing out Pages to see out well it works out
So far I agree that some things need tweaking but apart from that its not bad at all
